Native birds

Hello bloggers

I am going to post a blog post about native birds, beacause it is coversation week in New Zealand. I did some writing about it and also made a DLO.
Kiwis are unique animals, they are the only endemic, non flyable bird that has a beak and nostrils at their beak. These awesome birds homes are established in endemic forest’s in NZ in fallen logs, nests and under plants. Kiwi’s love to eat insects and bugs like grubs, snails, worms and also fallen fruits from trees. These unique birds have a light and dark brown, hair like feathers covering their small body. An interesting fact about kiwi’s is they are the only bird that don’t have wings and can’t fly. Fantail’s Most fantails reside in native forest reveres. They love to eat Insects, bugs and leaves. These small body birds can change directions with their rudder which is their unique fact. Did you know that the rudder that the Fantail’s use to change directions is almost like if it is rudder on the aeroplane. Fantails’ have exclusive tail’s for a bird. This bird is the only bird in NZ that has one like it. They also have a loud but lovely and beautiful chirping that fills the air with lovely notes of music.Pukeko’s Pukeko’s are uncommon to be found in other countries but here in NZ, that is why it’s a native bird to NZ. These birds are usually found in swamps, wetlands and lagoons. They are usually forging in the wetlands and swamps for food like stems, seeds, and leaves. These rare creatures have a dark blue body with blue shim feathers on the extrenel and with their thin branched light orange legs. They have an awesome lovely beaks that is bright red and orange.Tui’sT hese rare creatures endemic passerines that belong to New Zealand.Tui’s belong to the honeyeater family, which means they eat honey and nectar.  These exclusive birds have a big part in the nature of NZ and survourly of NZ endemic forest. These birds pollinate the flowers in NZ and in winter, they fly long distances to eat their most favourite berry’s or food.

What is static eletricity?

What is static electricity?

If you think you know what static electricity is think again. Static means still and you know what electricity is so it means still electricity.
The reason it's called static electricity is that if you rub or move         something quickly on two different surfaces energy builds up and then gets transferred to the other object or surface.

This energy only works if the surface or object you're using is different to each other like if you have positive surface and a positive object they will repel each other, but when you put a negative and a positive they will be attracted to each other, almost as if they were magnets.

Atoms are made out of neutrons, protons and electrons and did you know that protons and neutrons are in the inside and then electrons are on the outside that spin around the protons and neutrons.

Did you know that 70% percent of people survive getting struck by lighting even though it is so powerful and dangerous.

Should we Buy VR Head sets for our school?

Buying VR Headsets

I disagree that Mrs Campbell should buy VR headsets.

Mrs Campbell should not buy headsets because we can save that money to buy other things to make school fun. Like new playground equipment, new class’s and also even a rugby post on the field. We can use this money to make Hay Park School a better place for learning.

We can use this money  for the VR headsets for more important things like  incase a family is in need of money and they can not get that money, we can support that family with that money. Also if a family can’t afford school uniforms and have just entered the country and need help setting up their new home in New Zealand we can support them.

Kids at Hay Park school have chromebooks already and spend most of their time a school looking at screens. Children need more time outside doing physical activities like sports they like or anything they like doing outside. We need less time on screens and more time outside.

I strongly disagree that Mrs Campbell should but VR headsets.

Camp 2019

Hi bloggers

This Term, Term 3 has been lots of fun, especially Camp in week 3 of this Term. On the 31th of July 2019  year 5's and year 6 students set off Merc at Long Bay. If you don't know what MERC is it is Sir Peter Blake Marine Eduction and recreation centre (MERC). If you are wondering why they named it after Sir Peter Blake the famous yactysmen, its because he didin't discover it, its because they had the same values as Sir Peter Blake of carrying about the enviroment and how its changeing. Sir Peter Blake visted MERC before he died in 2001.

People loved camp because they were pushed out of there comfort zones and did things that they would have never have done. One of our actives were sailing, it was my most favourite thing that I did at camp. I loved how the boat glide thorough the water and also loved seeing the sea so calm and peaceful.

My most favourite experince this term

My favorite Experience of Term 2

My favorite experience this term has to be football with Dan our coach. It is my favourite experience because I enjoy playing football and also love learning new skills. When I heard we were doing football every Friday I was happy because I wanted to learn new skills and techniques for soccer . I loved football the most this term because all my friends and I loved this sport and we all wanted to learn new skills.

My second favorite experience this term is the virtual reality or (VR) headsets. They came in on the first week of school of term 2, on Tuesday. They came from Blake education trust, they came to see us about how us people are destroying sea life because of plastic. They came with VR  headsets, they were special goggles that you wear and you can see 3d places and can look around. We looked at sea life underwater. We looked at different places our first place was Poor Knights Island and we were looking at sting rays.

My third favorite experience is Kapa Haka, I love kapa Haka because people who go to kapa haka express themselves at kapa haka. Also I love kapa haka because I love singing and performing in front of people and making them happy. The best thing in kapa haka is the people all the people there love to sing and perform.

Roald Dahl

Hi bloggers

Welcome back to my blog if you know it is Book week so on book week we wanted to learn about Roald Dahl because our class novel is by Roald dahl so we were told to write a piece of writing about Roald Dahl.

Here is my writing

Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl was born on the 13th of September 1916 in Llandaff Wales. Sadly in 1920 his oldest sister died because of pneumonia and shortly later his father died as well. Roald Dahl said his mother was an amazing story teller, she was not like an ordinary storyteller she told stories about  mythical characters and creatures. Even though he was born in Wales his Mum and Dad were Norwegin.

Even though he had a happy life at home he often got canned for bad behaviour at school. When him and his friends were in high school they were often told to come to the local chocolate factory to test new chocolates this event inspired the book Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Most of the books Roald Dahl wrote were inspired by real people that he met. An example is the girl in the BFG, she is named after Roald Dahl's granddaughter Sophie.

Roald Dahl enlisted for the royal air force at the age of 23 in the Second World War. His friends in the World war called him Lofty because of his height and was over 6ft tall so he had to squeeze himself in the cockpit. He was a fighter pilot and all so a spy he passed intelligence to M16 from Washington.
